Stanbic Uganda Cup 2021 (Round of 16):
First Leg: Saturday, 1st May – Express Vs URA (4 PM)
*At Betway Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium, Kabowa
Express hosts Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) in the first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the round of 16 at the Betway Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium on Saturday, 1st May 2021.
The clash at Wankulukuku comes just weeks after Express lost at home (3-1) to the same opponent in the league at the same venue.
Therefore, Express seeks for quick revenge with the target of the advantage prior to return leg next week.
The Red Eagles are still fresh from the 2-0 home win against Onduparaka during the league duel, where Eric Kenzo Kambale scored a brace.
Express head coach Richard Wasswa Bbosa has already hyped the clash and anticipates a well balanced affair.
“We are set to host URA. We are determined to get a good result from this match as we look towards the second leg with the target of qualifying for the quarter-finals. It will be a battle well contested” Bbosa stated.
He will look towards the fine form of striker Eric Kenzo Kambale, Godfrey Lwesibawa, Charles Musiige, John Byamukama, Muurushid Juuko and captain Enock Walusimbi among others for inspiration.
Express’ two goalkeepers available Chrispus Kusiima and Denis Otim are both great custodians with Kusiima a likely pick ahead of Otim since Mathias Muwanga is recovering from an ailment.
Perhaps, Express will miss the services of Arthur Kiggundu, George Ssekabba, Abel Eturude and Isa Lumu through injury.
URA under Sam Ssimbwa, has been unstoppable of late with the latest 2-0 home win over Mbarara City manifestation that they deserve to be top of the table standings in the Uganda Premier League.
With their forwards Cromwell Rwothomio, Steven Desse Mukwala and Ibrahim Juma Dada firing across the all cylinder heads, the tax collectors have enough ammunition to push them ahead.
URA team captain Shafik Kagimu, Ivan Sserubiri, Mikidadi Ssenyonga, Julius Mutyaba and Moses Sseruyidde are all important midfielders for the tax collectors.
At the back, URA have two good options in goal with either Nafian Alonzi or Hannington Ssebwalunyo good picks, Brian Majwega and Arafat Galiwango are the two available natural left backs, Ashraf Mandela (right back) and the central defenders Farouk Katongole, Hudu Mulikyi.
Proline won the 2019 edition after overcoming 10 man Soltilo Bright Stars 5-4 in post match penalties.
Normal time had ended 1-goal apiece at the Masaka Recreational Stadium.
The 2020 edition was cancelled because of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
