Ivan Bogere scored a brace as Wakiso Giants humbled visitors Tooro United with a 5-1 defeat to edge closer to the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter finals.

Rahmat Ssenfuka, Frank Ssebuufu and Viane Ssekajugo scored the other goals for the Purple Sharks while Marvin Oshaba, the leading scorer in the Fufa Big League scored the visitors consolation.

Ssebuufu scored the opener for the Purple Sharks in the eleventh minute after being set up by Ssekajugo before the number 10 again set up Bogere for the second in the 22nd minute.

Ssenfuka head home the third in the 40th minute but the lead was cut when Oshaba converted from the spot after being fouled in the area by Hassan Wasswa Dazo.

Bogere extended Wakiso Giants lead in the 63rd minute from a goal melee after the hard work was done by Ssekajugo who later put the icing on the cake with the fifth goal.

The win means Wakiso Giants can only be eliminated by Tooro United scoring at least four unanswered goals when the two sides meet in the return leg on Tuesday at Buhinga.
