FUFA Women Super League
- UCU Lady Cardinals 1-0 Uganda Martyrs HS
- Lady Doves 1-0 Kawempe Muslim
Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Cardinals have defied odds to reach the final of the ongoing FUFA Women Super League.
The Mukono based side who nearly failed to compete at the tournament with reports that the University was not willing to invest into the team overcame Uganda Martyrs High School in the Playoffs on Monday.
Midfielder Jauharah Nabbagala tucked home the lone goal of the game in the 15th minute to help UCU Lady Cardinals secure a slot in the final.
The University side started on the front foot with Cissy Nakate getting the first chance of the game in the 13th minute but failed to put the goal beyond goalkeeper Dahine Nyayenga.
Two minutes later, Nabaggala who had started the previous two games on bench was well stationed to slot home after goalkeeper Nyayenga spilled an initial effort from Nakate.
Whereas Uganda Martyrs had no control of proceeding in the midfield, they got numerous attempts at goal but ineffectiveness cost them once again.
Anita Namata blasted her chance wide when goalkeeper Ruth Aturo had moved off her line.
In the second stanza, Spencer Nakacwa and Catherine Nagadya went through on goal but failed to slot past Aturo.
UCU Lady Cardinals eventually held to advance to the final where they will play Lady Doves who overcame Kawempe Muslim.
The winner on Wednesday will represent Uganda at the CECAFA Zonal qualifiers for the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League.
