Godfrey Akena is head coach of Calvary Football Club

Second division outfit Calvary Football Club has confirmed a new technical team ahead of the 2021 -2022 season.

The Yumbe based entity that had been hosting their games in Arua city at the Green Light Stadium made the development via their technical director Dudu Bosco.

CAF B licensed Godfrey Akena is head coach. He will be deputized by John Ongodia, a CAF C certified coach whilst the goalkeeping coach is Charles Ogengo (holder of a goalkeeping certificate).

“We have named the new technical team quite early to allow early preparations for the next season” Dudu confirmed.

The head coach post has been vacant since the untimely resignation of Ahmed Borini.

For starters, Akena has been attached to fourth division side Gulu United.

He was the winning coach in the 2019 FUFA Drum (Inter-Provinces) tournament with Acholi Province.

His assistant, Ongodia, recently announced resignation from Blacks Power (formerly Bukedea Town Council).

Besides also being head coach of Olila High SS in Soroti, Ongodia had also handled Lady Doves in Masindi and Karamoja province in the FUFA Drum.

Ogengo, like Akena has also been working at Gulu United as goalkeeping coach.

Calvary played their first ever season in the FUFA Big League earning 19 points as they survived relegation.
