Express Football Club has failed to concur with goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga for a new contract extension.

This was confirmed by the club via their official website.

“The club and the player have mutually parted ways after contract renewal negotiations fell through” a statement published on their official website reads.

Muwanga spent three seasons with Express having joined the club in the 2018/2019 season.

He managed 54 club appearances and 24 clean sheets across all competitions.

“Express Football Club would like to place on record its thanks to a player who has shown his 100% committment and made his mark during one of the best seasons in our club’s history.” the statement adds.

Apart from the Uganda Premier League title, he lifted at the end of last season (our 7th in the club’s history), Muwanga also won the Golden Glove award for keeping the most clean sheets (13).

“Muwanga will forever be engrained in the club’s folklore for his contribution. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours” the statement adds.

Express has also poached Joel “Vama” Mutakubwa as his potential replacement.
