Joseph Ssemujju was BUL Football Club’s top scorer in the recently concluded 2020 – 2021 season.
The forward-cum-winger scored 14 goals in total (both in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League) and Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The 11 goals came in the league and 4 assists in the 13 matches played; including a hat-trick against rivals Busoga United.
Then, in the FA cup, he had 3 goals and 1 assist in 4 matches as BUL sailed to the semi-finals as await the draw.
Despite an injury plagged season, Ssemujju often bounced back to serve the club with the due diligence.
The left footed winger-cum-forward whose birthdate spells 1997 describes the previous season as fair.
“The previous season was fair considering the performance in the number of games I played. The goals spiced it up though the injuries messed me up and miss some of the matches” Ssemujju confesses.
The June Real Stars player of the month looks up to the next season to put up his best performance.
“I am working hard in the off season because I target great performance when football and sports return from the national lockdown” he adds.
With his contract at BUL done and dusted, the negotiation process is underway as he also weighs options elsewhere in the diaspora according to his personal manager Jens Leidewall
“I am in near talks with a club in Poland about Joseph (Ssemujju), who know his results and about his progress well since was there 2019. I am also discussing with clubs in South Africa and Tanzania regarding him. It is time for Joseph to play football in a stronger league then UPL, he truly deserves that.” Leidewall testifies.
Besides BUL, Ssemujju has also featured at Vipers, Proline, Sports Club Villa and Express.
In 2019, he held a six weeks training trial with Polish giants Legia Warsaw alongside Mahad Yaya Kakooza.
