Tanzania Premier League 2020 – 2021 (Final Standings):

  • Simba – 83 Points
  • Young Africans – 74 Points
  • Azam – 68 Points
  • Biashara Mara United – 50 Points
  • Kinondoni Municipal Council – 48 Points

Simba Sports Club were crowned champions of the 2020 – 2021 Tanzania Premier League on Sunday, 18th July 2021 at the National stadium in Dar es salaam.

Home to Uganda Cranes midfielder Tadeo Lwanga, Simba tallied 83 points, 9 ahead of traditional arch rivals, Young Africans.

This was Lwanga’s first title at Simba since arrival from Egypt.

Simba has now won 21 league titles since 1965.

These victories have come through in 1965, 1966,1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1993, 1994, 1995, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009–10, 2011–12, 2017–18, 2018–19, 2019–20 and lately 2020-21 season.

On the final day of the season, Simba humiliated Namungo 4-0 in a one sided duel.

Congolese goal scoring machine Chris Mugalu scored a brace, Meddie Kagere and the league top scorer added the others.

Meanwhile, Azam Football Club completed the season in third place with 68 points.

Azam is home to two Ugandans; Nicholas Wadada and goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya.

At the same time, Mbeya City, home to Ugandans Mathias Lule (head coach) and Yaya Lutimba (player) overcame Biashara Mara United 4-0 to survive relegation.

Juma Luzoio starred with a hat-trick and Juma Siraji had the other.

Relegated:

JKT Tanzania (39 points), Gwambina (35 points), Ihefu (35 points) and Mwadui (19 points).

The two clubs Mtibwa Sugar and Coastal Union will be engaged in the relegation play-offs.
