Buganda regional entity, Masaka City Sports Club continues to plan for the kick off of the up-coming season with key recruitments.
This third division outfit is owned by Masaka City Member of Parliament Hon. Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, also the leader of opposition in the national August House.
Head coach Noah Mugerwa has suggested number of key additions to join the old crop of players as they prepare for the third division season that will drive them to the FUFA Big League (second division).
“We have added on a number of players to the Masaka City Sports Club because the target is to qualify for the FUFA Big League” Mugerwa disclosed.
The club has brought on board a couple of experienced players as Martin Kivumbi (formerly at BUL), Ashiraf Magembe (Kalisizo KEM and Bululi), Akram Yiga (Nyendo Diamond and Bululi), Baker Zziwa (Synergy), Muzafaru Ssenyonjo (Nyamityobora),Hamza Kalibwami (Kakiri Town Council), Dirisa Masembe (Lukaya Town Council and Bulemezi ssaza), Alex Nsubuga Kirimutu (Rushere United and Ssese), among others.
Masaka City will also bank on the experience of several Buddu Ssaza players as goalkeeper Nazir Kibuule Obbo, Steven Muwawu, Jibril Nsimbe, tried and tested defender Muhammed Yiga (formerly at Synergy and Express), Akram Yiga, Ashraf Magembe, Robert Ssentongo Kayuni, Julius Magu Kazibwe among others.
Mugerwa is the head coach and works alongside George William Ssengenbi with James Zaake as the assistant and goalkeeping coach as well.
The team doctor is Bulhan Jjumba, a long serving physician at Masaka Local Council and Buddu teams.
The club has also strengthened its structures with Owek. Matimbo Kagumba as chairman.
Veteran football administrator Meddie Sserwadda as the treasurer, Peter Ssenabulya (technical director), Robert Kaweesa will serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) , Emmanuel Zziwa (Public Relations Officer), Joash Kizito (Marketing), Hakim Kigozi (Team manager), Francis Mbaziira (equipment officer), Musa Bwanika (Welfare) among the keen advisors on the team on the technical wing.
For starters, Masaka City Football Club took over Mityana based Nkambi Coffee at the start of the 2019-20 season and they play in the Katonga group of the Buganda Regional League.
They host their home games at the Masaka Recreational Stadium in the heart of Masaka City.
The 2021 second division (FUFA Big League), third, fourth and fifth leagues were uncertain after the local football governing body, Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) postponed the kick off to a future date.
