Mathias Muwanga could regret not penning a new deal at Express FC as his reported move to DR Congo’s AS Vita seems to have hit a dead end.

Last season’s golden glove winner with the Red Eagles quit the Wankulukuku based side with the club confirming Muwanga turned down an offer to extend his stay at the reigning UPL champions.

“Express FC inform that, as per Goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga’s wishes and at his request, the club and the player have mutually parted ways after contract renewal negotiations fell through,” read a statement released by the club.

His departure prompted the seven time champions to sign Joel Mutakubwa.

However, Kawowo Sports understands that the custodian’s move to AS Vita has hit a dead end as the DR Congo side’s representatives that persuaded Muwanga not to renew his contract at Express are no longer in contact with the former Sadolin goalkeeper.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the goalie who made 54 appearances for the Red Eagles has now turned to Express’ goalkeeping coach Daniel Kiwanuka to give him another chance at Wankulukuku.

It remains to be seen where Muwanga will play next season but at the moment, the free agent is available to any suitors.
