CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup:
Saturday, 24th July 2021: Group A – Uganda Vs Tanzania
Bahir Dar International Stadium (2 PM)
Uganda U-23 team (Kobs) takes on Tanzania in the group A duel of the CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup on Saturday, 24th July 2021 at the Bahir Dar International Stadium in Ethiopia.
This will be the second game for these two countries at the on-going championship that has been decimated by daily heavy rains.
Morley Byekwaso Ochama, head coach of the Ugandan team believes the contest will be a do-or-die affair given the significance of the match.
“I expect a do-or-die match on Saturday when we face Tanzania. The result from the game will determine the destiny of the two countries. It will therefore be a hard contest” Byekwaso attested.

Ready to rumble:
Byekwaso believes that the time they have rested since the first game (0-0 with Democratic Republic of Congo) was important to recover their bodies as well as plan for the Tanzanian game.
He has therefore expressed readiness to face their traditional rivals in the derby contest.

“We are set mentally and physically for the game. Since the last game we played, we have gone back to the drawing board to plan for the next game before us” Byekwaso adds.
Uganda will pray that creative midfielder Steven Sserwadda recovers from a muscle strain well in time against Tanzania.
Should Sserwadda fail the 11th hour fitness test, his replacement against DRC, Najib Yiga will be ready to take on the responsibility in the match against Tanzania.
Unless otherwise, the rest of the team that started against DRC will be maintained.
The kick off for this match was switched from 4 PM to 2 PM by the tournament local organizing committee.
Tanzania has three points after their 1-0 win against DRC whilst Uganda and DRC have a point apiece.
