Tuesday January 18, 2022 Group C Fixtures 10pm

  • Morocco vs Gabon – Roumde Adjia Stadium, Garoua
  • Ghana vs ComorosAhmadou Ahidjo Stadium, Yaoundé

Four-time African champions Ghana will be out to avoid early exit from the TotalEnergies Afcon 2021 but must beat Comoros at the Roumde Adjia stadium in Garoua.

The Black Stars have picked just one point from their opening two games and failure to beat debutants Comoros will see them exit the tournament at the group stages.

In the same group, Gabon take on Morocco aware that a draw will confirm their place in the last 16 regardless of what results Ghana post against Comoros.

With four points, Gabon will go to five with a stalemate against already qualified Atlas Lions of Morocco as the best tally Ghana can collect is four points.

If Ghana win and Gabon avoids defeat, it will imply that they wait and pray they are among the 3rd best ranked teams from the groups.

Ghana who last exited the tournament at this stage in 2006 will hope Ayew brothers – Jordan and Andre are in fine form on the day as well as Thomas Partey and Idriss Baba in the middle of the pack.

What they said

Milovan Rajevac (Coach, Ghana)

It’s a very important game for us. We need to finish the group with a win and will do everything to guarantee this happening. Our team develops well but we need time and patience.

Amir Abdou (Coach, Comoros)

The game is very important for us. We had two good games against Gabon and Morocco, but luck was not on our side. I told the players to consider this as if it was the final. Ghana is a very good team, but we will do our best. We have nothing to lose, and we must be strong and brave.
