  • Nigeria 0-1 Tunisia

Youssef Msakni scored the only goal of the game as Tunisia saw off Nigeria 1-0 to reach the last eight of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2021.

The goal arrived two minutes into the second half and the Carthage Eagles held on to eliminate pre-match favourites.

The Super Eagles woes were compounded by a red card to Everton forward Alex Iwobi a couple of minutes after he had come on in the second half.

Coming into the game, Nigeria had won their entire group stages game while Tunisia had won only one and qualified as one of the four third best placed teams.

But on the day, missing over 10 players with Covid19 and their coach as well, they exhibited a good game dominating the three-time champions.

Tunisia will now face Burkina Faso who endured a tense penalty shootout to eliminate Gabon.
