Raymond Derrick Onyai at Mbarara City Football Club

Uganda U-20 midfielder-cum-forward Raymond Derrick Onyai has returned to his parent club, Kataka FC.

Kataka Football Club is an entity in the StarTimes FUFA Big League (second division).

Onyai has been employed by Western Uganda based Uganda Premier League, Mbarara City.

“I am glad to return to Kataka Football Club. This is a place that I regard as home. Kataka made me who I am before I transferred to Mbarara City FC who gave me the platform and opportunity to play in the top flight league.” He revealed.

Onyai is humbled for the opportunity and fond memories at Mbarara City.

“I am very happy for Mbarara City’s immense role in my career where I met great players, coaches and administrators” he added.

He joined Mbarara City in 2019 as a free agent from Kataka, serving for two and a half seasons at the Ankole Lions.

One of his brightest moments at Mbarara City was when he scored a hat-trick during their comprehensive 9-0 home win over Moyo based Faith, Hope and Love (FHL) at the Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara on Friday, 14th February 2020 in the Uganda Cup.

He is a graduate from Bukedea based footballing hub, Amus College having also played for the Junior team of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

Onyai joins Kataka at the critical stage during the second round of the 2021-2022 FUFA Big League season.

He departs Mbarara City at the same time when long serving captain Hilary Mukundane also bid farewell for greener pastures elsewhere.
