  • Mbarara City 1-1 KCCA

KCCA failed to hold on to Usama Arafat early goal as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Mbarara City.

Jude Semugabi scored the equaliser to deny the visitors their first win at Kakyeka in the premier league in five visits.

The visitors started well and got ahead inside two minutes with Usama nodding home after a flicked header by Patrick Kaddu.

But that didn’t deter the hosts who took control of the game and could have got level before halftime but Henry Kitegenyi, Semugabi and Solomon Okwalinga missed good chances.

At one time, Okwalinga, a former KCCA player was denied by the upright with Derrick Ochan beaten.

KCCA could have also got a second but goalkeeper Martin Elungati made a double save to stop Rogers Mato first and then Kaddu.

Morley Byekwaso made a double change at halftime with Kaddu and goal scorer Arafat getting off for Davis Kasirye and Brian Majwega.

But it was Mbarara City that got the goal with Ssemugabi beating John Revita for pace to level matters.

It became a seesaw of events with either side seeking the winner but Mbarara City will feel the most aggrieved party as Pistis Barenge hit the post in the closing minutes of the game.

A draw implies that KCCA remain second on the table with 36 points but three points off leaders Vipers who beat Arua Hill 3-1 on Saturday while Mbarara City stay 13th with 16 points.

Mbarara City’s next game will be away to Busoga United on Friday while KCCA will host Onduparaka the following day.
