Round of 32 (Tuesday 22nd February 2022) – 3 PM kick off for all matches:

After the opening match for the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 when UPDF edged Impala Hill 1-0 at the Army Military Barracks stadium in Bombo on Monday, more matches continue on Tuesday and throughout the week.

At the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso, it is the battle of UPL’s Wakiso Giants against FUFA Big League outfit Kyetume.

Kyetume comes to this match with internal woes in the midst of a sit-down strike from players over delayed payments.

Nonetheless, the contest will go on as planned with a slot at the round of 16 at stake.

Wakiso Giants’ head coach Alex Gitta is a known well organizer of sorts, and so is Kyetume’s David Katono Mutono.

The Purple Sharks will look forward burying their last week’s 5-0 home disappointing show against Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) in the league where also their left back George Kaddu was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Goalkeeper Derrick Emukule returns from the Spanish expedition with team Fundi to join Samson Kirya.

Ivan Bogere, Frank Ssebuufu and Sharif Kimbowa are still envisaged as the primary source for goals.

Skipper Hassan Ssenyonjo, Titus Ssematimba, Ibrahim “Owen” Kasule, Joshua Lubwama, Lawrence Bukenya, Moses Aliro Okabo and Tom Masiko are core pillars in midfield at a time Hassan Wasswa Dazo is swiftly recovering from injury.

Grant Matisko, George Kaddu, Simon Namwanja, Alex Komakech and Fahad Kawooya are available for selection at the back.

Enter Kyetume Football Club. The club has reportedly had internal bickering accruing from delayed payments of their wages and allowances.

Some of their key players ready for the job at hand include skipper Dan Birikwalira (left back), Latif Kiyimba (center half), right back Henry “Bishop” Orom, Sharif Yusuf Saaka, Ezra Bidda, Baker Buyala, Nigerian David Oyedde and the on-form left footed sharp shooter Ezra Kizito Kaye.

Other contests:

Away in Eastern Uganda, Mbale Heroes host Kampala regional giants NEC at the Sansiro grounds in the mountainous Mbale city.

The explosive Luweero derby between Luweero United and Ndejje University, two FUFA Big League sides will take place at the Kosovo grounds in Luweero town.

In the North East region, Tepa takes on Iganga Young at the Ngora High Grounds.

The current holders Vipers managed to progressed to the round of 64 after a 1-0 win over Kigezi Home Boyz at the Kabale Municipal Stadium.

Yunus Junior Sentamu scored in the 83rd minute for the lone strike on the evening.

Vipers will now face Kalongo United at the round of 32 on Saturday, 26th February 2022.
