- Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku 4pm
Giants Express and KCCA face off at the Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku on Thursday with either desperate to pick points to keep pressure on leaders Vipers.
Second placed KCCA make the trip aware that failure to win the game will leave a big advantage for Vipers who beat Soltilo Bright Stars 2-1 on Wednesday.
The defending champions are even in worse situation sitting 6th on the log with 29 points, a whopping 13 behind leaders.
Stand in Coach James Odoch has already laid a strategy to get him all the points against the Kasasiro.
“We’re done with our last training ahead of our game against KCCA FC on Thursday,” he told the club media. “We’ve used this period to correct our mistakes which we had in our last game away against Busoga United FC,” he stressed.
“KCCA FC are comfortable on the ball so we’ve worked more on the pressing because KCCA FC are good with the ball so i believe we’re ready to get maximum points”.
His opposite number who saw his side exit the Stanbic Uganda Cup last week believes playing with confidence will give his side edge in this huge fixture.
“We need to go there and play with confidence and show we want it more than them. That is how you win such games,” said Morley Byekwaso.
“We have prepared every player to be ready for the task at hand. We need to have the mental toughness and focus on the game.”
The hosts are boosted by the availability of forward Eric Kambale and Arthur Kiggundu as well as Captain Enock Walusimbi who all missed the last few games with varying reasons.
KCCA are also buoyed by the return of forwards Patrick Kaddu and Sadat Anaku but are undone with injury to Yasser Mugerwa and suspension to Brian Majwega.
Long term absentees Brian Kayanja, Emmanuel Wasswa and Geoffrey Wasswa are all out while Ashraf Mugume will have to pass a late fitness test after a knock in the last game.
Express have won none of the last four league games [D4, L1] while KCCA have won only two in the last five [D2, L1]
KCCA have enjoyed a decent run at Wankulukuku of late in the league with 3 wins in five games [L1, D1]
