Pilsner Uganda Premier League Monthly Awards:

Best of February 2022:

  • Coach: Sam Timbe (Uganda Revenue Authority)
  • Player: Steven Desse Mukwala (Uganda Revenue Authority)

The Uganda Premier League rewarded Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club’s head coach Sam Timbe and forward Steven Desse Mukwala for the excellent performance during the start of the year, 2022.

The duo was crowned as the outstanding coach and player for the month of February 2022 at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala on Monday, 7th March.

Mukwala scored 6 goals and had two man of the match performances.

“It is humbling to be rewarded. I am really grateful. I thank my teammates, coaches, fans for the team effort. I look forward continued great performances throughout the season” Mukwala who had last won the same award in November 2021 revealed.

His goals were braces against Soltilo Bright Stars and BUL, and one apiece against Gaddafi as well as KCCA.

He beat teammate Viane Ssekajugo and Vipers’ Ceazer Lobi Manzoki.

Ssekajugo made the nomination list after his five goals; four against Wakiso Giants in a single match and one against Soltilo Bright Stars with one assist against Gaddafi.

Manzoki scored three goals, twice against Sports Club and one against Arua Hill.

Timbe was named coach of the month for the superb performance where URA won five matches out of the 7 games played, recording a loss and draw apiece.

“I am excited to win such an award. It will motivate our team heading to the final bend of the season” the soft spoken coach noted.

Timbe thus accumulated 16 points out of the expected 21.

The veteran coach beat off stiff competition from Vipers’ Roberto Oliviera and KCCA manager Morley Byekwaso.

Out of 6 matches, Vipers managed 3 wins, 2 draws and a loss, counting 11 points out of 18.

Byekwaso, like Oliviera also had 3 wins, 2 draws and a loss (11 points out of the possible 18).

Both Timbe and Mukwala received cash worth Shs 1,000,000 as well as a plaque each.

Huzairu Luwagga was rewarded with Shs. 500,000 as the best fan.

The UPL monthly awards for outstanding player, coach and fan are sponsored by Uganda Breweries Limited through the pilsner beer brand.

Meanwhile, the Uganda Premier League returns with match day 20 on 8th March 2022 as URA entertains West Nile based Onduparaka at the Arena of Visions in Luweero.

On the same day, league debutants Gaddafi host the reigning champions Express at the Gaddafi Arena in Jinja city.
