Vipers’ defender Paul Willa will miss the remainder of the 2021/22 season after undergoing surgery.
The club confirms that had surgery on his left Achilles ligament and will be out for 2-3 months which makes his return this season impossible.
The right back suffered the injury during his side’s 2-1 win over Soltilo Bright Stars.
“Paul Willa has had successful surgery on his left Achilles tendon and will be out for approximately two to three months…..,” read a statement on the club website.
“The Cranes international sustained the injury to his tendon after the StarTimes Uganda Premier League match with Soltilo Bright Stars FC on Wednesday, March 2nd at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
“An assessment with a specialist confirmed the need for an operation and the 22-year-old had successful surgery to his tendon in Entebbe on Thursday afternoon.”
The former Police defender who can also play as a centre back leaves a void at the back of the Venoms since he has been a main stay.
In his absence, youngster Emmanuel Munoobi could deputise but Roberto Oliviera could also look to centre backs Bob Olouch and Hilary Mukundane.
