Ponsiano Lwakataka and Paul Musaazi are on a conquering spree after claiming victory in the East with victory in the Kaliro Eastern Motorclub Rally.

In January, he dominated the west when he won the Mbarara Rally.

Lwakataka kept himself within the podium position from day one finishing third position at the end of leg one.

He however exchanged stage wins in a close battle for the rally win with Hassan Alwi. Lwakataka came up top to win by two seconds after organizers were forced to cancel the final two stages due to safety.

“The truth is, I have started getting closer to the title. And I will not relax till I am sure I have it in my hands.

“The event went as planned. We wanted a top-three position and we got even a much better position. We hope to maintain the strategy in the upcoming events,” said Lwakataka.

Hassan Alwi and Joseph Kamya settled for a second position.

The father-son partnership of Arthur Blick Jr and Alistair Blick sealed the podium finish in third. And with it, Arthur registered his first finish this season while Alistair registered his maiden rally finish.

Kepher Walubi aimed for a top spot from the home backyard but he would only manage a fourth position overall.

Duncan Mubiru had mixed fortunes through the event with a crash on leg one but he managed to secure fifth place. 

In the Clubmanrally championship, Mike Mukula Jr took the day with an impressive performance to claim victory in the class.

While Oscar Ntambi exhibited a satisfying improvement with his driving skills. He topped the Two-Wheel category and the Division Two class.

The rally claimed a number of drivers including day one leader Rajiv Ruparelia, Ronald Sebuguzi, Mark Lubega, Musa Kabega among others.

The next round of the NRC will be the Pearl of Africa Rally scheduled for May 11-13.
