Immaculate Nakisuyi is making up for lost time as she has been in impeccable form for Aziz Damani since her return from suspension.

She scored the first century of the season 103 off 63 balls against Pioneer Cricket Club in Lugogo. Aziz Damani posted a big total of 287/5 in their 40 overs and were helped by that Immaculate Nakisuyi century and a half-century from Obukor Gloria (74) that set them up well.

In reply, Pioneer were skittled out for just 92 inside 36 overs with Victoria Pearls Captain Consy Aweko (4/8) the stand-out bowler for Damani. The win is the second for Damani this season as they defend their league crown.

The stand-out fixture was the derby of Soroti that saw Olila CC taking on Soroti Challengers in Soroti. It was the first league match to be played in Soroti which is a good sign for things to come in the future. Unfortunately, the derby didn’t live up to the hype with Olila easily picking up a seven-wicket win against Soroti Challengers. The youngsters of Olila CC gave their seniors Soroti Challengers no respect as they restricted Challengers to a small total and chased it down easily. Olila picked up their second win of the league while Soroti Challengers start on a false start.

In Entebbe, Wanderers picked up their first win of the season against Tornado Bee. Irene Alumo (4/11) set up the win as Wanderers restricted Tornado Bee to just 71 runs. Wanderers struggled at the top but Jackeline Nakayovu (26) and Frankline Najjumba (12) took care of business to get Wanderers over the line. Tornado Bee is still winless after two games while Wanderers picked up their 1st win of the season.

In Jinja, the home side Jinja SSS ran over Mukono Community. Mukono Community is featuring in the league for the first time so the experience is what is important for them. Whitney Nassuna (25) has been in good touch for Jinja SSS since she returned from the U-19 World Cup qualifiers in Botswana. Jinja SSS is seeking promotion to the top flight and has yet to drop a game so far this season.

In Ndejje, the home side Ndejje SSS got the win over fellow students St John’s SSS. It was a low-scoring game between the two sides but for the development sides, the experience is what counts. Ndejje SSS picked their first win of the season while St John’s SSS were made to wait for their first win of the season.

There is still a long way to go in the season in both divisions but Damani and Jinja SSS have shown they are a class above the others in Division 1 and Division 2 respectively.

Denis has represented Uganda in international cricket events including the World Cup. He is currently the captain of Wanderers Cricket Club.
