It is now six years since the disappointing demise of Eric Hodgson (8th March 1932 to 24th December 2017), the founder of Everton Uganda Football Academy.
Since the fateful day, the memories of the Hodgson remain fresh thus far in the minds of many people in Uganda and his home area, England.
To celebrate his legacy, Everton Uganda Academy started a memorial football tourney that is now making 5 editions.

The 2023 championship will be held on 5th February at the Kanyanya playground in Kampala city.
According to the Ali Ssenkunda, the chief executive officer of Everton Uganda Academy, at least 200 teams will take part in this tournament in the U-13 boys, girls (open) as well as amputee football for the disabled persons.
There is free entry for all teams willing to take part in this championship.

The annual Eric Hodgson Memorial Football Tournament will once again return this year as we remember the good deeds of Eric Hodgson in the start of the Everton Uganda Academy. The preparations are going on very well. We shall as usual have the boys U-13 tournament, girls (open) and amputee football. Entrance for all teams willing to take part is free with many prizes set to be rewarded to the outstanding players and teams. The tournament will take place on 5th February 2023 at the Kanyanya sports grounds, Kampala.

There are certificates of participation, trophies, medals that will be given out as well as a ball each per participating team.
There will be other activities as blood donation and testing (for HIV/AIDS).
Hodgson laid a pivotal fundamental stone to Everton Uganda chapter with the strong foundation base as many talented male and female footballers have been identified and nurtured with a big fraction able to attain education bursaries.
