Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba introduced the Ford Fiesta rally2 car to the National Rally Championship with a sublime performance on day one of the Mbarara Rally.

The Moil Rally crew went all out with the top crews securing two of the three stages of the day.

However, the highlight of the day was at the Boma Grounds where the crew thrilled the fans as they seamlessly manoeuvred through the 2.62km super special stages.

“Day One was full of fun. We have started blending with the car well. We didn’t have any issues and we hope day two plays out the same,” said Yasin.

Yasin and Katumba will start day two with a one-minute and six seconds lead over second-placed Duncan Mubiru.

Ronald Sebuguzi kept the leading crews in check; keeping close in third place heading into day two.

Hassan Alwi is currently sitting fourth while Fred Busulwa is fifth.

Reigning national rally champion Byron Rugomoka will start day two in the sixth position.

Four stages covering a total competitive of distance 69.08km will be covered before the winner is declared.
