  • Vipers 1-1 Raja Casablanca
  • Simba 7-0 Horoya

Nigerian import Abubaker Lawal scored Vipers first goal in the Caf Champions League group stages as the wasteful Venoms played to a 1-1 draw with Raja Casablanca.

The visitors started with a relatively weaker team took the lead on the 19th minute mark when Soufiane Benjdida making a good connection off Rahim ball in the area.

Lawal equalised at the stroke of halftime tapping home at the far post with Isa Mubiru bagging the assist.

The hosts who came into the game with no goal after four games in the competition proper should have won the game with a huge margin but were lethargic in front of goal.

Martin Kizza, Yunus Ssentamu, Bright Anukani and Lawal all came close especially in the second half when they dominated but failed to utilize their opportunities.

The draw is only the second time Vipers have earned a point in the competition but it ends a perfect run for the Moroccan side who didn’t field several of their key players.

In Dar es Salaam, Simba secured a quarter final berth with a 7-0 win over Horoya.

Clatous Chama was the star of the evening scoring a hattrick while Baleke and Kanoute added the other goals.

That takes the Msimbazi to nine points, five better than Horoya who are automatically eliminated with one more game to play against Simba.

Vipers will visit Horoya in their last group stages game before focusing on domestic competitions.
