Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC progressed to the quarterfinals of this year’s FUFA Women’s Cup after overcoming non-league entity She Geme from Fort Portal on Sunday.

Latifah Nakasi and Rebecca Nandhego scored a goal in either half to guide Uganda Martyrs to victory.

Whereas the home side put up a resilient performance at the start, this could only last for the opening 33 minutes when Nakasi fired the visitors into the lead.

A minute upon restart defender Nandhego doubled the lead and this eventually sealed the victory.

The win means Uganda Martyrs who got a walkover at the round of 16 will face holders Makerere University in the quarterfinals.

In the other round of 16 game played on Sunday, inaugural winners Olila High School dumped out struggling She Corporate in Nakawa.

Normal time ended goalless but the Soroti based side won the penalty shootout 4-3 to advance.

In the quarterfinals, Olila will face FUFA Women Elite League side She Maroons who eliminated Rines 5-4 on penalties after normal time ended in a two-all draw.
