The 2023 Wakiso district football championships group stages are nearing a tense climax at various playgrounds in Kisubi, Katabi Town council.
This followed match day one and two played on Tuesday, 28th and Wednesday, 29th March respectively.
The final group stage contests will be played on the morning of Thursday, March 30 to determine the final positions of the schools in the various pools.
Then in the afternoon, the quarter finals will follow suit.
A couple of schools as St Juliana High School Gayaza, Buddo S.S, St Mary’s Kitende remain unbeaten in as many games coming to the last group games.
Unlike match day one where goals rained, there was a significant decrease in the goals scored on match day two.
The biggest shock on Wednesday was Abu Aisha Islamic’s spirited goal-less draw with giants St Mary’s Kitende in a game also watched by the director Dr Lawrence Mulindwa.
Earlier on, Kitende had labored to outwit Aidan College Ndejje 1-0.
Buddo S.S won 1-0 over Green Light Islamic in a physical contest.
Hosts Kisubi Mapeera recovered from a goal down to record a 2-1 win over K.Garden Groove.
Martin Wegulo gave K.Garden Groove the 12th minute lead before Ian Niyoshuti brought the game level in the 37th minute.
Andrew Ogwel secured the maximum point for Kisubi Mapeera with a well drilled penalty on 58 minutes.
Kisubi Mapeera had lost 0-3 to on-form St Julian High School Gayaza.
Mustapha Oloya scored a brace and Moses Mukisa added the other.
St Julian High School Gayaza made it four wins in four games with a 1-0 win over Kyadondo S.S at the SMACK main ground.
Ronnie Watimon’s strike secured the maximum points for St Julian High School – Gayaza, an entity coached by Dan Ssegawa.

Ssegawa is eyeing 100 record in the group stages before the quarter final which is like a grand final to us.
“We are not taking any chances. We need to finish unbeaten with maximum points in the groups as we head to the quarterfinals.” Ssegawa noted.
In other games, Kawempe Royal and Namugongo Vocational & secondary school shared the spoils 1-all.
Fredick Juuko gave Namugongo the lead on 22 minutes before the joy was cut short by Tonny Opio 13 minutes later.
Namugongo Vocational and Secondary school was also on the losing side, falling to Kyadondo S.S 2-3.
Tonny Bazira, Joseph Kakooza and Ivan Kigoma were on target for Kyadondo S.S.
John Marol and Moses Harrison replied for Namugongo Vocational and Secondary school.
The semi-final clashes come on Friday, 31st March 2023 at Kisubi before the grand finale on Saturday, 1st April 2023 at the Kabaka Kyabbagu stadium.
