A big field of 160 golfers (120 amateurs and 40 professionals) will play part in the Pro-Am championship at the 2023 Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Open Championship.
The Pro-Am championship has a total of 40 matches teeing off as early as 7:00 AM.
In each match, there are four members, with three amateurs and one professional, playing in a stable-ford format.

The score for the professional will be added onto the best scores for two amateurs to contribute to the team scores. In case of a tie for the teams, there will be a countback basing on the professional’s scores. The winning team, first and second runners up will be rewarded.

Selected matches
Former president of Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) Mark Namanya will drive off at 8:50 PM.
Despite missing the main amateurs’ open, Namanya returns to the Kitante greens and will play with towering long-hitting South Sudanese Mark Mayen, Derrick Olel and Rwandese professional Emille Nshimyu.

Lady professional golfer Flavia Namakula will drive off at 9:50 AM with left hander Gloria Mbaguta, Nelson Kasigaire and Evah Magala.

2013 professional open winner Vincent Byamukama is in the same group as Stephen Kitonsa, Tony Kisadha and Alexander Matsiko, teeing off at 11:30 AM.
Lugazi-based professional Ronnie Bukenya will drive off at 10:10 AM with James Okema, Timothy Okanya and Richard Mugisha.
Former amateur open champion Ronald Otile embarks on his professional debut in Uganda in the Pro-Am at 12:10 PM.

Otile will play with Halai Kartik, Manoj Murali and Andrew Bugembe.
Legendary Kenyan professional Dismas Indiza plays at 11:00 AM with JB Tumusiime, Harry Hakiza and Menon Menoj.
On-form Ronald Rugumayo who has of late been based in South Africa drives off at 11:10 AM with Paul Habyarimana, Daniel Kalimuzo and Sammy Migunda.

The tourney which is exclusively sponsored by Absa Bank is also a major precursor for the Professionals Open which drives off on Wednesday, 25th October with round one until Saturday, 28th October when the final round shall be played.
The prize-giving ceremony shall be held after all the matches are completed.
