APR FC (Rwanda) 0-0 Police FC (Rwanda) – APR FC win 4-2 on penalties
Rwanda League champions APR FC once again needed penalty shootout to dump out compatriots Police FC as they reached the finals of this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup.
The two sides settled for a barren draw in the 90 minutes and extra time couldn’t separate them despite the end to end attacks that kept the crowd on tenterhooks.

Ndahinduka Michel, Jean Claude Iranzi and Bernabe Mumbuyi came close for APR FC whilst Kipson Atuheire and Sina Jerome were culprits for missing clear cut opportunities to give the cops the lead.
Both clubs had been in a familiar situation before as APR FC edged rivals 4-3 in a shootout while Police FC edged Burundi side Atletico FC 9-8 to reach this stage.
Towards the closure of the second period of extra time, Police FC coach Cassa Andre Mbugo withdrew goalie Marcel Nzarora for Steven Ntaribi a move cheered by crowds in the stands.
This however didn’t help matters as APR scored four penalties past him through skipper Ismael Nshutiyamagara who missed against Rayon Sport, Yannick Mukunzi, Patrick Sibomana and Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza who netted the winner.

Only Eric Rutagenda missed for the army side who will now face Sudan’s El Merriekh in the finals on Sunday at Amahoro stadium, Kigali.
On the side of Cops, only Sina Jerome and Moussa Mutuyimana netted as kicks from Jacques Tuyisenge and Jimmy Mbaraga were saved.
El Merriekh edged KCC FC 3-0 on penalties following a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes.
