Despite renewing his contract six months ago, Derrick Nsibambi has vowed not to return to KCCA.
The Uganda Cranes striker didn’t show up for training on Monday, when national team players returned to Lugogo.
Local Newspaper, Bukedde ran a headline “Sidda mu KCCA’ literally translated as I am not going back to KCCA.
When contacted, Geoffrey Kayemba, Nsibambi’s representative admitted he was caught off guard and said his client is still a KCCA player and must return to training immediately.
“He is still a KCCA player and must immediately train with the club,” said Kayemba. “He still has a running contract and until he signs for another club, he must be at Lugogo,” he added.
Nsibambi is a subject of interest from several clubs and was linked with a move to Egypt before closure of the transfer window.
The player also failed to show up after his appearance for the national team in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, last year.
Row over ‘new’ contract
Meanwhile, Kawowo Sports understands that there is a disagreement between the two parties over a contract signed mid last year.
In an investigation we have done, Nsibambi cites breach of the new contract as the club failed to pay his sign on fees as agreed and wants it terminated.
His previous contract still has up to June to expire and we wait to see how the row will be resolved.
