Nine thousand runners have so far register for the ninth MTN Kampala marathon due on November 27 at Kololo airstrip.
“By this evening we shall have nine thousand runners register for the event in various categories,”Data entry manager Michael Niyitegeka said. “It’s a good target so far and now we are looking at hitting 12,000 by next week and more.”
The statistics so far from the MTN arena has it 6,927 have registered for the 10 kilometer Open challenge while 381 have registered for the half marathon while the full marathon has 159 and the corporate challenge 10 kilometer race has 601, 12 have entered for the 10 kilometer wheel chair while Half marathon corporate challenge has 37 however these figures could shot up according to the momentum at the registration at MTN Arena, in Lugogo stadium.
22 Kenyan elite athletes and five Ethiopians have registered for the marathon so far.
