Charles Hamya announces package

With all eyes set to be glued to the TV sets in January Super Sport has unveiled a mouth-watering soccer package ahead of the kick-off of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations due in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

In a statement released by their Kampala head office the pay per view TV will next year broadcast both the Orange Caf Africa Cup of Nations and Euro 2012.

The World of Champions will

broadcast all 32 Afcon matches live and in High Definition, while Euro will be broadcast exclusively live, also in HD.

The AFCON deal, especially, marks a significant achievement for SuperSport as it incorporates a number of continental football properties.

The Afcon arrangement will be for the next three editions (2012, 2013 and 2015). In addition, the rights include the African Nations Championship (2014), African Youth Championship (2013 and 2015), Caf Super Cup (2012-2016), Caf Champions League (remaining matches, plus 2012-2016), Caf Confederations Cup (remaining matches, plus 2012-2016) and the Caf Under-23 Championships.

It all adds up to a staggering array of content and confirms SuperSport as the preeminent football broadcaster in Africa.

SuperSport’s Afcon coverage will include a 24-hour channel dedicated to the event in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Among the guests and analysts are renowned football personalities, among them Sammy Kuffour, Neil Tovey, Benni McCarthy, Stephen Keshi, Daniel Amokachi, Doctor Khumalo, Shaun Bartlett and Gavin Hunt.

Hello Africa, SuperSport’s daily magazine show, will include reports from reporters stationed in Franceville, Libreville, Malabo and Bata. There will also be previews, memorable moments and viewer interaction.

Moreover, every Sunday award-winning presenter Robert Marawa will present Masterplan, an analysis show designed to get to the heart of team tactics and strategies. Analysts will include Amokachi and Gary Bailey.

Meanwhile, the buildup to Euro 2012 will start on Friday evening with the draw broadcast live from Ukraine (SSHD2, SS3, SS3A, SS3N, SS10, Maximo, 7pm CAT). Euro 2012, to be played in June and July, will also boast a 24-hour channel, with commentary in English and Portuguese.
