With an aim of spreading the game to all parts of the country, the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) is set to launch the Northern Uganda project today at Oasis Restaurant, Lugogo.

The project will help introduce the game, nurture talent and produce umpires from the region.

Cricket is played most in the Central and Eastern regions owing to the big number of schools and availability of playing outfields.

UCA has already embarked on teaching the disabled the sport. They held a refresher umpire course and are set to a coaches’ course later this month.

Uganda is ranked in the ICC third division.

Elsewhere, UCA chairman Richard Mwami and CEO Justine Ligyalingi return today from Malaysia after a one week ICC Annual conference where Alan Isaac was elected new boss.
