The last few months have filled Ugandan football with circus and wrangles characterised by the fight for the right to organise and run the country’s top league between FUFA and Uganda Super League ltd.

In this entire circus, clubs have been the most affected but interestingly, none of them have come out to start a revolution to clean the

egocentric and greedy powers at both FUFA and USL.

Many have sided with both camps knowingly and have failed to come out clean to show where they belong. It’s amazing that these clubs have representatives in both camps and have not come out to deny this. An official picks a cheque from USL and his club fails to come out with a statement that he/she has done it on his own but still signs another pact with FUFA.

These clubs make the federation and USL but their officials seem to naively miss this. Without clubs, there is neither FUFA nor USL yet the clubs can still exist.

In my opinion, clubs should come out and declare they no longer accept to be guided by people who are not serious and clean. Now is the moment to intervene because knowing something is wrong is an obligation to change it.

The clubs must come out now and tell either of the two parties that depending on this and that, we are not bound to be part of you. Clubs must not be intimidated by bans and the like because without clubs, there is no football, FUFA, FSL or USL.

These two camps keep saying that they are cleaning up but the fact that no one seems to believe them tells you everything you need to know. They believe that maybe the systems are not working well in both camps that’s why they have failed to take one particular side.

They should however have enough integrity to see who is fooling them more and clean up the camp that looks ready to run football smoothly.

Even FIFA can’t be trusted on this matter since we have witnessed the recent scandals that hit the game such as the life ban for former FIFA presidential candidate Mohammed Bin Hamman and suspicions over the bidding process which led to Qatar being awarded the 2022 World Cup.

Have you ever realised that whenever we have misunderstandings in the game here, it’s Ashford Mamelodi who comes to solve the issues and he has of recently been joined by Primo Covarlo.

I don’t believe in them since their aim is to increase their bank accounts through large sums of allowances they earn on such visits. In short, they gain monetary from this circus.

These two witnessed the formation of the Jinja Declaration that gave birth to USL but never thought about being part of the process when they alleged that the mandate to run the league was withdrawn from something they were part of at the beginning. Whether they were speaking on behalf of FIFA remains is a mystery.

Have any of the 16 super league clubs taken the initiative to request for the Anthony Kimuli and Hajji Abbas Kawaase reports that were meant to harmonise relations between FUFA and USL.

It’s time for clubs to show their level of integrity before the new season commences. It’s now or never.
