
Sports star of the moment men’s Olympic marathon gold medal winner Stephen Kiprotich has been unanimously voted the Nile Special USPA Sportsman of the month of August at their monthly meeting this morning at Oasis restaurant,Lugogo.
The Sports Scribes body unanimously voted
the Olympic champion after winning the men’s marathon at last month’s Summer games in London.
Kiprotich defied the odds by claiming the country’s first gold medal since 1972 when the great John Akii Bua,(RIP) won Uganda’s first gold at the 1972 Munich Olympic games in Germany.
Since his remarkable feat at the games Kiprotich has been the center of attraction since returning home.
USPA at the same meeting commended Eastern Region for winning the MTN Regional Football tournament,Team Uganda for winning FIM Africa Motocross championship,Phiona Mutesi for winning the City Tyres National Junior Chess Championship.
Meanwhile USPA will hold a church service on Wednesday at Christ the King Church at 10.00am to remember all its members who have died in the course of duty this comes after the sports scribes body held a road safety last week in memory of the late Kenneth Andrew Matovu,Francis Batte Junior,Leo Kabunga and Simon Peter Ekarot,who died in a fatal accident on Jinja road in 2001.
