There is no more time for him to gel in and get to know how things work. So its time to get down more serious business for Farouk Kisuze.
He overcame two opponents in Moses Muhwezi and Juma Witonze Bagalaaliwo Kisekka to retain his position of Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) president for yet another term after an elective general assembly over the weekend.
Kisuze polled 64 votes while Kisekka got 12 and Muhwezi picked just nine at the elections that were presided over by National Council of Sports official Jammes Kasumba at Arch Apartments in Ntinda.
“It is yet again a new beginning with tougher challenges,” Kisuze said. “I am happy and i hope we take the sport to higher levels this term.”
A couple of amendments were taken on this elective assembly but the most outstanding being the increase of the term of office from two to four years and setting the minimum academic qualification for all PAU executive members to O-level or its equivalent.
This means Kisuze will hold onto the mantle till 2017. He will be deputised by Umar Kataaya, who saw off Adam Sebbi in the race to the seat.
Allan Tazenya’s 29 votes were not enough to stop Stephen Lazarus Hirya (44) from taking position of general secretary while Micheal Mawanda (52) beat Asuman Bukenya (23) to post of publicity secretary.
Douglas Mayanja (treasurer), Robert Kayanja (tournaments’ secretary) and Eddy Nkoyoyo (secretary for Institutions of Learning) were all unopposed to their new positions.
