University League:
Ndejje 0-1 MUK
MUST 1-2 KIU
Ronnie Atiku gave under-fire Makerere University manager Fred Ndawula some much-needed respite by scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory over Ndejje University on Saturday, provisionally moving the team into fourth place in the University Football League.
A toxic atmosphere was expected if MUK had lost the game as the fans had given their manager the Ndejje game, if he had failed the task they would call for his resignation.
However, the backlash never materialized and Atiku’s 32nd minute goal, from Dan Kasoma’s cross helped remove any tension that may have surfaced. MUK was dominant save for a nervy final 20 minutes, and secured a second straight home win in the league to climb above KIU which had played earlier.

“I was really pleased with the performance on the pitch and the atmosphere was really good,” Ndawula said. “I was really pleased with the fans behind the team,” he added. “The players played with more confidence and it was clear it was very positive.”

Meanwhile in Mbarara, Kampala International University had to cling on in Mbarara as a 2-1 win against MUST so them maintain their 5th position in the League. Goals from Adul Mbarushimana and Jesse Kajubi looked to have put the Green warriors in control. Though it was MUST who had gotten the goal earlier through Siraje Musindo but as things progressed there was to be no comeback.
