Big league sides Bright Stars and Child Restoration Outreach (CRO FC) have earned direct qualification to Uganda’s top tier league after topping the Rwenzori and Elgon Fufa big league groups respectively.

The two sides collected maximum points from their respective games to beat off competition from their nearest rivals.

Bright Stars 1-0 Wandegeya FC

In Kawanda, Kawempe division side Bright Stars FC beat bitter rivals Wandegeya 1-0 thanks to Akram Kakembo’s solitary strike.

The right full back nodded home Steven Sajjabi’s ball from the corner kick in the 42nd minute to send the home fans who packed the stadium to capacity into frenzy.

Despite the tense moments in the second half that saw Wandegeya launch attacks on Bright Stars’ goal, the hosts led by former Cranes midfielder Jamil Kyambadde held on to finish the league on 38 points one ahead of rivals Soana FC who beat Utoda FC 3-1 in the other game at Kavumba.

In the Elgon group, CRO beat Soroti Garage 3-0 to qualify from the group as leaders.
