Nkumba University Women Volleyball team marked a 3-0 winning start over NEMO Stars in the National Volleyball league fixture played at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Volleyball courts on Saturday.
“This is an encouraging victory for my team that will act to morale boost the girls ahead of the season”, remarked Nkumba University Coach, Tonny Lakony shortly after the game.
In the other games played, Ndejje University Women beat her UCU fierce rivals 3-1 while big spending Serie C league debutantes had the easiest path with an emphatic 3 straight set victory over Namboole Volleyball Club. They recorded 25-12, 25-12 and 13-25 sets victories.
League action resumes next week with various games on card.
Meanwhile, Uganda’s representatives at the 2013 African Club Championships in Tripoli, Libya, NEMO Stars returned to the country on Sunday having finished 11th over all.
Five time Champions, Sfax of Tunisia won the men’s championships following their victory over compatriots, Esperance 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 25-15,27-29, 15-12). They are now assured of a slot at the 2013 FIVB World Championships that will take place in Brazil from October 10-15,2013.
