A 3 day national Sports Strategic Plan workshop binding together all the sporting federations under the umbrella of the Uganda Olympic Committee has ended in Kampala.

“The onus now lies on each of the federation presidentas who has attended this workshop to implement the learnt ideas than apply them in offices”, urged the main facilitator, Gunter Lange at the closing of the workshop held at the Uganda Olympic Committee offices.

The workshop, a partnership of the Germany and Ugandan Governments, National Council of Sports and Uganda Olympic Committee targeted different areas of sports science, local and international sporting competitions, management, structure, planning, administration, partnership with stake holders, physical education, marketing, talent development and exposure, equipment, sports culture, human resource management among others.

“We had brain storming sessions on the challenges in Uganda’s sports, and how best the strategies leant can be implemented”, revealed Sam Muwonge, the Uganda Cycling President shortly after the session.

In a related development, a team of  5 Ugandans led by State Sports Minister, Charles Bakkabulindi will hold a 4 day exchange programme workshop in Germany courtesy of the Germany Embassy.  The other 4 are Uganda Olympic Committee President, William Blick, Comissioner of Sports in National Council of sports, Apita Omara, Bosco Onyke and Gunter Lange, a German Sports Development Expert based in Uganda. The workshop starts 28th May.
