CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup

In Kenya.

Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup draws will be held next week in Nairobi.

Nicholas Musonye,Secretary general of CECAFA is quoted by the Kenyan media affirming the  great trend of organization towards having a successful tourney that will be held in Mombasa, Nairobi and 2 other cities yet to be confirmed by the organizers.

“We are just awaiting a few confirmations from the member countries and we want to assure all that we shall host a very successful tournament”, Star Africa quotes a media release from the CECAFA secretariat.

The event’s defending and record Uganda Cranes are set to play a friendly game next week (0n 16th November) against Rwanda at Namboole Stadium as a basis to engage how prepared the team coached by the Serbian Milutin Sedrojevic is.

One of the hosting venues – Mombasa  County have confirmed their willingness to host some of the group matches during this year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup

Governor Hassan Ali Joho submitted the bid during a Local Organising Committee (LOC) meeting held in Nairobi and revealed that renovations on the Mombasa Municipal Stadium have been completed.

The coastal stadium has been undergoing renovations including the installing of floodlights, new dressing rooms, and rehabilitation of the terraces.

The tourney will concede with Kenya’s 50 years of independence. Already, UBC TV has reaffirmed their commitment towards relaying the games live to millions of Ugandans across the different parts of the East African land locked nation. This follows news that the national state broadcaster in Uganda secured exclusive rights to air the cecafa.

So far, Somalia have already named the squad to take part in CECAFA which will be held in Kenya from Wednesday 27 November to Thursday 12 December.
