Rwanda captain Haruna Niyonzima believes his side were just unlucky not to get victory against Uganda Cranes after dominating proceedings for most parts of the game.

The Amavubi held Uganda to a barren draw at Namboole on Saturday in an international friendly game but Niyonzima says his team deserved victory on the day.

“Football is a game of chance and if you don’t convert the ones you get, you don’t win”, Niyonzima told Kawowo Sports after the game.

“We created lots of opportunities especially in the second half but luck was not on our side”.

The Yanga SC midfielder however remains contented with the result insisting there is still room for improvement before the two clash in a group C game in the forthcoming Cecafa Cup.

“I think we played well and this is a boost ahead of the meeting in Cecafa”, he added.

“We are going back home to iron out the mistakes and am confident we shall beat the Cranes when we meet”, he concluded.
