Harambee Stars Coach Adel Amrouche has announced his provisional squad for the upcoming Cecafa Challenge Cup minus Azam midfielder Humphrey Mieno and Tusker FC striker Jesse Were.

Mieno was amongst the star attractions of last year’s event held in Kampala and has been in top form since crossing from Sofapaka to Azam FC in Tanzania on a long loan deal but has since been ignored by Amrouche.

On the other hand, KPL golden boot runner up Jesse Were has also not been considered despite scoring 14 league goals two short of eventual golden boy Jacob Keli with Amrouche preferring AFC Leopards marksman Allan Wanga, Allan Wanga, Mungai Kiongera, Jacob Keli and Gor Mahia forward Edwin Lavasta in attack.

Azam FC defender Joackins Atudo and Crispin Odula (Coastal Union) are the only foreign based players on the team.

Kenya who under the guidance of current AFC Leopards James Nandwa lost 2-1 to Uganda in last year’s semi-finals will host the tourney that kicks off on November 27 at Nyao stadium, Nairobi.

The team is in group A alongside Ethiopia, South Sudan and Zanzibar.
