Kenya 2-0 Zanzibar

Zanzibar Coach Salum Baus Nassor has launched an attack on Somalia referee Wiish Yabarow and the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) for what he referred to as biased officiation and incompetence respectively.

The Zanzibar Heroes lost 2-0 to hosts Kenya on Tuesday at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru courtesy of Jockins Atudo (penalty) and Allan Wanga strike in their final group A game that left them third on three points.

“The referee was so biased today”, he started. “Kenya committed a lot of fouls which went unpunished. Even when Kenyan players handled the ball, he waved play on,” Nassor added.

With his side left to rely on other results for a place in the quarter finals as one of the two best third best sides, Nassor blamed Cecafa for incompetence and says that all teams involved in this mathematics should have played at the same time and date.

“Look, how comes we played today yet Rwanda and Burundi didn’t,” Nassor argued. “Cecafa should have done it like it happens in England. In such situations, all teams involved play at the same time.”

Only two sides from the three groups will join the top two from each group in the quarterfinals and as it stands, Burundi (3points GD 1 in group B) and Zanzibar (3points GD -3) are favourites to take the two spots but Rwanda despite having no point from her two games can claim it with a 3-0 win over Eritrea in group C.
