Coca Cola claimed the first British Airways Charity Shield at Kyadondo Rugby Ground on Sunday after beating AAR on penalties 0-0(5-4) in a thrilling encounter.

The winners battled to a goalless draw in the regular 90 minutes and eventually won on spot-kicks to claim the tournament that was sponsored by British Airways and the Corporate League, that organised the event that raised 26 million  for disadvantaged youngsters in Uganda, through “Flying Start” a BA and charity initiative that raises funds for under priviledged children all over the world.

Enroute to the finals Coca Cola dispatched Civicon 2-0 while AAR registered a similar scoreline over Tullow Oil. Civicon claimed the losers final beating Tullow Oil 1-1(3-4) on penalties.

A total of 24 Corporate teams participated in this inaugural event that will be held annually to raise funds for underpriviledged children in Uganda. The sponsors of the event British Airways are yet to decide which charity organisation they will donate the money too.

Tullow Oil’s Joyce Nansumba, was a double winner claiming most valuable and best ladies player award while James Mubiru of Civicon was the best player men.
