Ex-SC Victoria University and Maroons FC striker George Abege scored the winning goal as Nairobi City Stars beat Sam Timbe coached Sofapaka 2-1 in a Kenya Premier League (KPL) game played at Nyayo stadium.
Abege scored the second goal for City Stars after Dennis Nganga had opened the scoring for the side. Former SC Villa skipper Tonny Ndolo scored Batoto Ba Mungu’s consolation in the 90th minute.
Ndolo’s goal was his fifth of the campaign whilst it was Abege’s second for the season.
In other games, another Ugandan Shafik Batambuze opened his account for Western Stima as he netted in the side’s 3-0 win over KCB.
The young left back scored the opener in the 5th minute before Collins Neto and Wesley Kemboi scored the other goals.
“It is a good time here in Kenya and this season has also been good. I am happy to be able to help my teammates and also to play many games because that is what you look for as a player,” an excited Batambuze told futaa.com after the game.
AFC Leopards beat Top FryAllstars 1-0, Tusker drew one all with Muhoroni Youth while Chemelil drew blanks with Ivan Anguyo’s KRA.
Action resumes today (Sunday) with Bruno Sserunkuma’s Bandari facing Gor Mahia FC, Sony Sugars host Zzinda Hussein’s Mathare United while Ulinzi Star face Hamza Muwonge’s Thika United.
