The premier Zuku University Basketball League is going to be a two horse race as Ndejje University and Uganda Christian University are far too dominant in their respective conferences.
Ndejje has won all their four conference games, three of those coming over the weekend at two different venues. They slipped past Bugema Adventist University 67-31 on Friday at Bush Court in Kololo with James Okello and Geoffrey Soro contributing 18 points each to lead Ndejje.
Ndejje’s Friday win was followed with more two victories on Saturday at Uganda Christian University – Mukono. They beat Cavendish University 76-69 in the first game, Jonah Otim leading the way for the Luwero based side with game high 28 points. Jacob Tormac had 25 points for Cavendish. Ndejje then dispatched St. Lawrence University 72-48 in their second game of the day and Jonah Otim once again pacing Ndejje with game high 19 points. Sedar Sagamba had 16 for St. Lawrence.
Meanwhile, Uganda Christian University men’s side spanked Islamic University in Uganda 101-31. Five UCU players reached double figure led by Stephen Wundi’s game high 25 points. Joseph Wacha added 17 points, Ivan Lumanyika had 12 points in five minutes while Calvin Ochan and Innocent Oudur contributed 11 points apiece.
On the women’s side, UCU ladies went on rampage handing IUIU another century. It ended 126-7 with UCU’s forward Purity Odhiambo pouring in 49 points, picking 11 rebounds and handing out 7 helpers. Bridget Nakamoga, Evelyn Adhiambo, Ritah Atuhaire and Grace Kusaba contributed 23, 22, 16 and 10 points respectively.
Ndejje’s ladies side followed their 65-14 win over Bugema Adventist University on Friday with a 67-23 win over Cavendish University on Saturday. Lillian Zawede and Jane Nabu konde paced Ndejje with 20 and 18 points respectively.
On Sunday IUIU were once again at the receiving end of UCU’s centuries at Makerere but IUIU men’s side got a 43-37 consolation win over Kisubi Brothers.
