Willy Lukenge is a first timer as far as playing the Nile Special national pool open championships are concerned.
Despite his inexperience, he was one of the 3 final names that made to the national Nile Special pool qualifiers.
His historic moment came at the hands of experienced guns in the names of Solomon Nkwakira, Kenneth Kituku and Godfrey Kizito, who all tried the qualification avenue through the Entebbe regional qualifiers.
“I have always played leisure pool but thanks be to God. I am no longer a leisure pool player since I have qualified for the national finals on my first attempt”, he spoke to Kawowo Sports after the final game at Entebbe Red Roosters bar, the venue for the Entebbe regional finals.
The club-less pool player, a Business Administration finalist student at Nkumba University dreams of a respectable finish at the national open finals come 6th September 2014 at Lugogo Indoor.
“I would love the Toyota Brevis but for a start, I will feel contented with a position where I will get some money”, Lukenge added.
Lukenge lost to Geofrey Ssetumba 3- 2 in the Entebbe region finals but still earned a slot to the national finals.
The final 16 finalists at the national open are all rewarded varying money prizes.
The best player will drive home a Toyota Brevis with a brand new Pool table and Ug.shs 2M.
There were also regional qualifiers in Masaka, Luwero, Mukono and Mukono.
The regional qualifiers return next weekend.
