On Saturday morning, about twenty kids aged between 9 and 18 attended the first clinic of iHoops Basketball Academy at the Aga Khan School court. The kids drilled vigorously through the basketball basics.

Running the opening day clinic were guards, Jimmy Enabu and Ben Komaketch (City Oilers), Ivan Enabu (Warriors), Albert Achiko (KIU Titans), and Kelly Martin (Falcons) who see the feeder program as a crucial training & up-bringing ground for the kids in all aspects of life in what is a year-round sport for many.

“We received 20 kids, they loved it and would like to come back,” Jimmy Enabu told Kawowo Sports.

The program is for both boys and girls under eighteen years old. They look to spread the program throughout the country.

“We want it to cut across Uganda. We want to take it to Jinja and as far as Mbarara and Gulu,” Enabu said.

For the kids, fun has to be part of what they are involved in and for the instructors that has got to be fused with game and life skills.

“We want to give these kids an unforgettable learning experience coupled with fun and one that won’t focus on only basketball but also instil values of discipline, hard work, teamwork and leadership,” Enabu said.
