Kampala City Council FC (KCC FC) coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe says his boys showed great character after they came from a goal down to beat Kenya’s Gor Mahia FC 2-1 in their 2014 Kagame Cup opener at Amahoro stadium on Friday afternoon.
The FSL Champions were a goal down at first half thanks to Daniel Sserunkuma’s 27th minute strike but a great showing in the second halves saw them net twice through substitutes Brian Majwega and Brian Umony to claim victory.
“The boys showed great character,” Nsimbe told Kawowo Sports. “It’s not easy falling behind against a great side like Gor Mahia FC and then claim victory. Credit to the boys,” added Nsimbe.
The soft spoken coach believes it was important winning the first game and hopes it gives them momentum to go far in the tournament.
“Winning the first game is always paramount as it boosts players’ confidence and I wish we keep improving as the tourney progresses,” he urged.
KCC FC face Telecom of Eritrea in their next game at Amahoro stadium on Sunday.
