One time lightweight division contender Sharif “The Lion” Bogere is seeking to regain his status as a top challenger for the 135 division(lightweight) going into the later part of the year or early next year.

“I want to regain my top status, but at the moment am putting alot of effort in my training,” Bogere stated. “I waiting for my moment though am glad to have returned to the ring successfully.”

Bogere returned to the ring in June in a eight round contest against Miguel Zamudio, in which he won with his opponent retiring in the third round.

The Las Vegas prize fighter is yet to break back into the world boxing rankings that is in all recognised bodies, but needs to regain his top status with quality fights before the end of the year.

Bogere fought for the World Boxing Association World lightweight title belt against Cuban Richard Abril in March however coupled with that loss the Ugandan pugilist has been battling with a niggling achilles tendon that he has had since 2012 however he returned in June after a long road of rehabilitation.
