Fifty six professional golfers from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and four amateur ones are eyeing the KCB PRO AM Grand final that tees off tomorrow(Tuesday) at the Nyali Golf and Country Club in Nyali, Mombasa.
Uganda will have professionals led by the Uganda Professional Golfers Association captain Deo Akope, towering Dennis Anguyo, Vincent Byamukama, Emmanuel Onito Opio and Fred Wanzala.
Tanzania will line up Pembe Kondo, Hamisi Ally, Maiko Makala, John Davis, Iddi Mzuki, Frank Roman, Hassan Kadio together with Rasheed Iddi. The tournament will run over four days with the Top 25 players making the cut sharing with the ties after two rounds.
The grand final is held after a series that see a total of five events with the golfer with the highest points in the series emerging the winner in the Order of Merit for the Professional Golfers of Kenya.
Mumias’s Dismus Indiza is the overall leaader going into tomorrow’s(Tuesday) action. He has a total of 77 points followed by David Wakhu, from Royal Golf Club while David Odiambo from Nyanza is third with 55 points.
The winner of the tournament will get Ksh510,000(Ugsh15m) the runner will get Ksh420,000(Ugsh12.3m) the third gets Ksh300,000(Ugsh8.8m). The Professional Golfers of Kenya is made up of 39 members that play several professional in and out of Kenya.
